Rose Marie (Capozzi) Simpson, 90, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 with her loving children by her side. She was the wife of the late Frederick J. Simpson. Daughter of the late Frank and Vivian (Parillo) Capozzi, she was born and raised in Dedham before moving to Stoughton in 1959. Rose was a graduate of Dedham High School, Class of 1950. She proudly earned her Associate Degree in Science from Massasoit Community College in 1985. She was an office administrator at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital for over 20 years before retiring in 2014. Upon her retirement, she taught English as a second language at the Stoughton Public Library. Rose was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. She taught CCD at Our Lady of the Rosary Church and Pre Cana classes at St. James Church both in Stoughton. An avid Boston sports fan, she also enjoyed weekly trips to casinos with her daughter, cooking, traveling, wintering in Florida, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and going to concerts but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Rose is survived by her children, Joanne M. Roberts and her husband John of Braintree, Frederick J. Simpson, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Concord, NH, James R. Simpson of Brockton and Barbara R. Simpson of Stoughton. She was the loving grandmother of Christine, Paul, Michael, Jessica, Patrick, James, Jr., John John, Madison, Colette, Elio and Frederick, III and great-grandmother of Willis, Rebecca, Anthony, Bain, Cade, and Audrey. She was the sister of June Koch and Anita Martin both of Florida and the late Frank Capozzi, Jr. and Patricia DeVirgilio. She was lovingly known as Nana Rose to all the children at her daughter's daycare and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Tuesday, May 3 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
