Sandra Gayle (Gregory) Hughes

Sandra Gayle (Gregory) Hughes, 84, died peacefully at the Copley at Stoughton on Monday, October 2, 2023.  She was the wife of the late Richard N. Hughes.  Daughter of the late Frederick Gregory and Lillian Rita (Clark) Walsh, she was born in Quincy and raised in Squantum.  She was a graduate of North Quincy High School.  She resided in Brockton, Middleboro and Taunton for many years before residing in Stoughton the past 7 years.  Sandy worked at the Morton Hospital in Taunton for 20 years as a medical records clerk before retiring in 2005.  She was also a homemaker and devoted wife and mother to her children.  She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, arts and crafts and was a friend of Bill W.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sandy was the beloved mother of Steven F. Hughes and his wife Lisa of Norton, Joseph Hughes of Taunton, Karen J. Hughes of Stoughton, Laura J. Silver-McIntyre and her husband Jody of Las Vegas, NV and the late Kevin M. Hughes.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeff, April, Jessica, Tyler and Colten and great-granddaughter, Felicia.  She was the sister of Lillian Frances Campbell of Orchard Park, NY. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church, 560 Page St., Stoughton on Wednesday, October 11 at 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.  Visiting Hours omitted.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra’s memory may be made to the Copley at Stoughton, 380 Sumner St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
