Scott C. McCarter

Scott "Scotty" C. McCarter, age 57, died peacefully Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, lovingly surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Stoughton, he was cared for by his devoted parents, the late Dale and Phyllis (Snow) McCarter, for over fifty years before moving into a BAMSI residence a few years ago. A longtime resident of Stoughton, Scott attended Stoughton Public Schools and others in the CHARMS Collaborative. For many years he socialized at events and activities sponsored by the Stoughton Association for Exceptional Citizens (SAEC), being one of its original members. Throughout his adult years he attended various day programs in the area, most recently the Easton Day Hab run by Brockton Area Multi-Services, Inc (BAMSI). Scotty enjoyed being part of family gatherings, kept himself fit with lots of walking, and loved car rides with his parents. His sweet smile  inevitably lifted the spirits of those who spent time with him.

Scott was the beloved brother of David McCarter of Mansfield, Barbara Hathaway and her husband Tim of Norton and Donna Jenssen and her husband Rich of Mansfield. He is also survived by eight nieces, a nephew, a great nephew, and three great nieces.

A Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday at 11 AM. Visiting Hours prior to the services from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott’s memory may be made to SAEC, PO Box 153, Stoughton,MA or at bamsi.org.
