Sheila A. (Murphy) Connolly, 83, died peacefully at her home in Stoughton on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, following a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late James L. Connolly.
Born in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Celia (Mulkern) Murphy. She was raised and educated in Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1960. Sheila was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and remained deeply connected to the community she called home.
Sheila was a longtime employee of Mur-Macs Roast Beef in Stoughton, where she became known for her famous meatballs. Working the order counter with efficiency, warmth, and a smile, she quickly became a familiar and beloved face to customers. She later brought that same dedication and friendly spirit to the Stoughton Cooperative Bank, where she worked for many years. There, she formed lasting friendships with her coworkers and developed special relationships with many of the bank’s customers. She retired more than 15 years ago.
A woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, Sheila loved gardening and spent countless hours tending to her yard. She enjoyed feeding the ducks at Harris’s Pond, taking day trips to Cape Cod, and sharing meals and good times with friends. Above all, Sheila cherished her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her family and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.
Sheila is survived by her daughter, Lauren J. Morris and her husband, Francis X. Morris, of Stoughton; and her beloved grandchildren, Chelsea E. Morris and Francis X. Morris, Jr. She was the sister of the late Brianna Murphy and Edward Murphy.
Visiting Hours will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27), Stoughton, on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, from 4–7 PM. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 9:15 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, 320 Nevada St., Unit 201, Newton, MA 02460.
