Sheila Marie (Maher) Correia

Sheila Marie (Maher) Correia, 73, died at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton, on March 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was the wife of Anthony J Correia for 53 years. Born in Dorchester, she was the daughter to the late Marian D. (Whynot) and William H. Whynot, and was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1967. She earned her Nursing Degree from New England Baptist School of Nursing and went on to practice Nursing for over 45 years at the Cardinal Cushing General Hospital, which is now called the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, until she fully retired in 2020. It was there that she found her second family where lifelong friendships were formed.

One of Sheila’s favorite things to do was to go shopping. It was not about shopping for herself so much, as it was about shopping for everyone in her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she would start shopping in October, and not stop until the stores closed, or the last Amazon truck retired for the evening. Many times, she would tell her family that they “still had stuff coming” because things were arriving late in the mail. Most likely they were on time, but she had ordered stuff two days before Christmas in the hopes that it would all arrive by Christmas Eve. She was generous to a fault and would spoil all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren throughout the year because it brought her joy.

In addition to her husband, Sheila is survived by her daughters, Dawn De Souza and her husband Tom of Brockton, Carol Bello and her husband Anthony of New Ipswich New Hampshire, and Ilene Adams and her husband Chris of Mooresville NC. She was the grandmother to Danielle, Colin, Caitlin, Nicholas, Zachary, Tommy Jr., AJ, Liam, Nicholas, and Molly, and was the proud great-grandmother of Conor, Nolan, Emma, Maisy, Ella & Harper. She is also survived by her sister Carol Nasif of Milford, and her nephew William Nasif and family of Bellingham, and nephew Jessy Correia and family of Angier NC along with several other nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Friday, March 10th from 4-7 PM.
