Shirley (Bovaird) McDade

Shirley A. (Bovaird) McDade, 86, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She was the wife of the late Peter E. McDade. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain and was a resident of Stoughton for the past 53 years. Shirley worked at the New England Sinai Hospital for over 24 years, retiring at age 74. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved tending to her flowers, traveling to local casinos, vacationing with her family. She has fond memories of her trips to Florida, Pennsylvania, Virginia and London, England. Her favorite times were when she was surrounded by her beloved family.

Shirley was the mother of Michele A. Anderson and Colleen M. Gichel and her husband Roy all of Stoughton and the late Peter T. McDade and his surviving wife Victoria McDade of Stoughton. She was the loving Nana of Shane and Ryan Gichel, Peter McDade and his wife Erika, Jessica McDade and Renee McDade. Shirley was the sister of Jean Zapatti of FL and the late Alfred and Frederick Bovaird, Evelyn Reid, Audrey Altobello and Ruth Beiderman. She is also survived by her three great grandsons, Zachary, Christian and Nathan and several nieces and nephews. 

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Friday at 8:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
