Shirley A. (Cushing) Parenteau, 94, died Sunday, August 2, 2026 at the Copley at Stoughton, after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Roland J. Parenteau. Born in Stoughton, daughter of the late Sarah E. (Jennison) Cushing and Robert C. Cushing, she was raised in Stoughton and attended and was a graduate of the Boston School for the Deaf in Randolph. She was a lifelong resident of Stoughton. Shirley was a longtime employee of Raytheon in Norwood and retired after over 40 years of employment. After her retirement, she worked at Walmart in Walpole for several years. In addition to her work, Shirley and her husband Roland enjoyed designing and selling garden decorations from their home. Shirley and Roland loved Christmas. They spent weeks decorating every room of their home for the holiday, delighting both children and adults. They hosted dinner for their entire extended family every Christmas Eve. Shirley continued to do this after Roland passed, when she was well into her eighties. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Shirley was the sister of the late Robert G. Cushing, Burton F. Cushing, Harvey N. Cushing, Franklin P. Cushing, Melvin E. Cushing, Edith J. Woodard, Helen M. Estabrooks and Ronald Homer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, from 9-10 AM. Funeral Prayers will follow at 10 AM. with a burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Shirley A. Parenteau may be made to Massachusetts Eye and Ear in support of Cochlear Implant Audiology Education Fund.
