Terry Ann (Dowling) Barbato

Terry Ann (Dowling) Barbato, age 84, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023, at Baypointe Rehabilitation in Brockton. She leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, Alfonse E. “Al” Barbato. Born in Urlingford, Ireland, in the county of Kilkenny, she was the daughter to the late Ellen (Moriarty) and William Dowling. She was educated in Ireland, and met Al in Manchester, England where they started their lives together, getting married in their early 20’s. She and Al settled in Stoughton, where they become longtime residents, raising their children, and making a life for themselves. She was a dedicated homemaker, always tending to her family and taking care of those she loved. She was an extremely devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, playing darts, taking trips to Foxwoods, and decorating, always keeping up the appearance of her home.

In addition to her husband Al, Terry is survived by her children Edward A. Barbato and his wife Phyllis of Middleboro, David A. Barbato and his wife Susan of Stoughton, and Amy L. Barbato and her partner Jack Elliot of Louisville, KY. She was the sister to Thomas Dowling of Ireland, and was preceded in death by her siblings William Dowling, Patrick Dowling, Maura Wade and Sally Neary. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Samantha Lyons, Brianna Lyons, Christopher Ford, Anthony Barbato, William Barbato, and John Barbato, and leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street, Stoughton, on Wednesday November 29^th from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held the next day, Thursday November 30^th at the Funeral Home at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
