Obituary

Thomas J. Levins, 85, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Copley at Stoughton on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. He was the son of the late Nicholas J. and Mildred F. (Chapman) Levins. Born in Boston, Tom was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Boston English High School. He continued his education at Boston State College before earning his Master’s Degree in Education from UMass-Boston. He resided in Hyde Park for 15 years before moving to Stoughton in 1986. Tom was a lifelong educator with the Archdiocese of Boston. He taught for 22 years at St. Ambrose School, St. Peter’s School and St. Patrick School all in Dorchester and Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton. He then was the Principal at Cathedral Grammar School in Boston, Holy Family School in Rockland and St. Bridget School in Abington over 14 years before his retirement. He was also the manager of Park Theatre in Dorchester from 1967-1981.

Tom was the brother of Patricia Fagerberg of Stoughton and the late William P. Levins and Nicholas J. Levins Jr. He was the beloved uncle of Catherine Homer and her husband Charles of Taunton, Ryan Homer of Middleboro, Christine Homer of Dighton, Olivia Homer of Stoughton, Chloe Homer of Bourne, Richard Fagerberg and his wife Paula of Stoughton, Nicholas Rocci and Juliette Rocci both of California, Nicholas Levins and his wife Nichole and Maggie Levins all of Franklin, Carol Lee and her husband Tim and Allison Lee all of Taunton, James Levins of Quincy, Theresa Dietz and her husband Don of Hawaii, David Levins and his wife Kimberly and Preston Levins all of Tennessee.

Tom’s family would like to thank the staff of Dana-Farber Cancer Center at South Shore Health for their outstanding compassion and care, source of strength and support. The highlight of his week was coming to see you.

Tom’s family would also like to thank his wonderful neighbors on Bento Street. Your friendship, kindness and always lending a hand meant the world to him.

Visiting Hours will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, October 5 from 9-10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 11 AM.
