Virginia D. (Soares) Sousa

Virginia D. (Soares) Sousa, 96, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Copley at Stoughton on Monday, April 6, 2020 with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Jose B. Sousa. Daughter of the late Jose and Maria (DaCosta) Soares, she was born and raised in Almagreira, Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal. She came to Stoughton in 1973. Virginia worked at Corcoran Shoe in Stoughton for over 15 years before retiring in 1990. She was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and enjoyed praying. She also enjoyed crocheting but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Virginia was the mother of Maria C. Sousa and her husband Anthony and Jose S. Sousa and his wife Armenia all of Stoughton and the late Manuel S. Sousa and his surviving wife Maria H. Sousa of Stoughton. She was the grandmother of Steve Sousa and his wife Alicia, Ana Adamo and her husband Paul, Stella Sousa Billadeau and her husband Jason, Kevin Sousa and his wife Amanda and Lisete McDonough and her husband Joe. She was the sister of the late Jose Soares. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, funeral services private. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
