Virginia C. "Ginny" (Aldred) Tomasello

Virginia C. “Ginny” (Aldred) Tomasello, 76, died peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024, at the St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, after a long period of declining health. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Jamaica Plain. Ginny lived in Canton for the past several years and was a longtime resident of Sharon after raising her family in Millis. Ginny worked as a Claims Representative for Amica Insurance in Wellesley for many years, retiring at the age of 55. Ginny was known for her kind ways, her easy demeanor and infectious smile. She loved going to the beach with family, especially Nantasket Beach, Horseneck Beach, Seagull Beach and spent many summer family vacations renting cottages at Swift’s Beach in Wareham. She was fond of visiting Castle Island during the spring and summer for walking, people-watching, and stopping for lunch at Sullivan’s. Ginny enjoyed listening to music, going to the movies, watching TV, and a glass of Pepsi.  But the thing that brought her the most joy was to be sharing good times and lots of laughter surrounded by her beloved children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

She was made to be a “Gramma” and cherished the role deeply. She adored spending time with her grandchildren and proudly cheered from the stands when she attended their many hockey games, baseball games, soccer games, football games and dance competitions/recitals over the years.

Ginny is survived by her children, Christine Christie of Canton and Richard “Rick” Tomasello and his wife Erica of Norfolk. She was the loving grandmother of Jason and Brianna Christie and Hunter and Kayden Tomasello. She was the sister of the late Maryanne Hudson, Marilyn Simmons, Elaine Herrin Pignat, and Paul, Robert “Bobby,” and Charles “Sonny” Aldred.

A celebration of life will be held at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Erica Tomasello on Saturday, June 1, 2024, between 2:00pm and 6:00pm at 5 Toil’s End Road, Norfolk, MA  02056.

Donations in Ginny’s memory for Esophageal Cancer may be made to The American Cancer Society. Donations fund research, promote early detection and help develop lifesaving treatments for people facing esophageal cancer.
