Obituary

Wallace B. Buggs, affectionately known as “Bugsy”, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026, at Boston Medical Center South in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of Ethel L. (Highsmith) Buggs, for 58 loving years. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was raised and educated in Pine Mountain, Georgia with his grandparents, the late Addis and Eunice Greer Bugg. Throughout his life, Wallace worked a variety of jobs before finding his calling as a presser in the garment industry. He went on to serve as a union representative for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union for more than 30 years, dedicating himself to his work until his retirement in 2000. An avid sports fan, he loved rooting for any team playing against Boston’s teams, with the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees among his favorites. He also enjoyed being a part of his community as an umpire for Stoughton Little League for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards and took great pride in maintaining his yard, especially his lawn, which was often considered the best in the neighborhood. He was equally meticulous about his cars, always keeping them in tiptop shape, clean and freshly waxed. Above all else, Wallace was a devoted father, a loving husband, and a cherished Papa and family man. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his wife Ethel, Wallace is survived by his children Keith Buggs and his wife Silvia of Reno, Nevada, Terrence Buggs of Stoughton, and was preceded in death by his son Lionel Battles. He was the loving Papa to Tristan, Tyson, Trey, Tyrese and Jaidan Buggs, and was predeceased by his grandson Jordan Keith Buggs. He leaves behind his siblings Ruby Robinson, Betty Ann Holloman, and Charles Smith, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton on Monday November 2nd from 10-11 AM with a Funeral Service at 11 AM. Interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wallace’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/.
