William W. Brown

William W. Brown, 86, a longtime resident of Chester, NH, died peacefully at Foremost at Sharon on Friday, June 26, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Elaine F. (Skidmore) Brown. Born in Waltham, he was the son of the late Harold F. and Mary E. (Fitzgerald) Brown. Bill was a graduate of Billerica High School, Class of 1958. He resided in Westford for 25 years before moving to Chester, NH, where he lived for 25 years.

Bill was a draftsman at Raytheon in both Waltham and Sudbury for 42 years before retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Westford Tennis and Racquetball Club and the Spinners Softball League, also in Westford. He was also a member of the Elks in Chelmsford. He was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed coaching youth hockey, basketball and baseball in Westford when his son was younger. Bill was an avid painter and loved painting pictures of animals and water scenes which he would share with his family. He enjoyed woodworking, landscaping and working around his home. He loved photography and making photo albums for family. He enjoyed playing the piano, dancing and listening to music and would sing “Sweet Caroline” but would change it to “Sweet Elaine” for his wife. Bill also loved camping at The Bluffs in New Hampshire and fishing, especially with his brothers in their younger years. He would spend many summers taking his family and friends around Lake Winnipesaukee on his boat. He was a dog lover and particularly loved golden retrievers. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his children, Traci A. Jones and her life partner, Robert Fisher of Stoughton and William E. Brown of Salem, NH as well as his grandchildren, Tyler Jones, Cassidy Brown and Hailey Brown. He was the brother of Patricia Chamberlain and her husband Artie of Milford, Cindy Goddard and her husband Richard of Shirley, Joy Norton and her late husband Bob of Bonita Springs, FL, Robert Brown and his wife Connie of Ponte Verda, FL and the late Richard Brown, Kenneth Brown and Priscilla Ryan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rte. 27) Stoughton on Saturday, July 11 from 10-11 AM followed by a Family Reflections at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in William’s memory may be made to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, 110 Chapin Road, Hudson, MA 01749 or www.ygrr.org.
