William R. Dowling, 75, died Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Frances A. (Scoville) Dowling.  Born in Tewksbury, he was raised and educated in Somerville Schools. Bill was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from July 1968 until April of 1970. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 15 years after living in raising his family in Braintree. Bill worked for The Department of Defense for many years. He was a Proud Marine who enjoyed fishing in his free time and loved spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Kim A. Yanoff and her husband Randy of Stoughton and his son Kevin M. Dowling and his wife Janeen.  He was the grandfather of Justin, Brendan, Ryan, Ashley, Brady, Julian, Joshua and Jessica and the great grandfather of Xander. He was the brother of Kathleen Collins of FL, Karyl Brainard of Somerville, Ann Marie Ferreira of Boston, Patricia Dowling-Cook of Hudson, Roberta Eastman of CA, Garnet Shields of Charlestown, and the late Daniel Dowling. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne on May 28, 2024 at 9:45 AM. Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
