William Wesley Green, 88, was born on October 18, 1933. He departed this earth unexpectedly on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at his home in Stoughton, MA. He was a long-time resident of Waltham for over 20 years, and recently has been a resident of Stoughton and living with family in Minnesota for over a year.
Born and raised in Des Moines, IA, he came to Boston at age 14. In 1950, he joined the US Army and proudly served in the 272nd Field Artillery Corps as a Corporal for approximately 3 years in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Boston. He attended Boston schools. And, furthered his education by obtaining his Bachelor's degree at Northeastern University and took additional college courses at Harvard University
He pursued his passion in criminal justice by starting his own security firm providing private investigating and patrol services. Thereafter, worked for 30 years with First Security Services then retiring with Massachusetts General Hospital after 10 years. Following his retirement, continued to work as a Trainer, on a full-time basis, with the American Red Cross in Waltham. In his free time, Bill enjoyed being on his fishing boat and he was a competitive fisherman winning several Big Mouth Bass fishing tournaments along the East Coast. Known as Chef Green, he enjoyed baking a variety of cakes, attending family reunions and spending time with his beloved family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his late parents Arthur Green and Ruth Stewart; brothers Eugene E. Green, Melvin Stewart and Donny Hall; and sister Priscilla Davis; and his late grandson, D'Anthony William Green. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Wanda F. Green of Stoughton, MA; sisters, Elizabeth Riley of Minneapolis, MN, Sarah Coleman of Boston, MA. He is also survived by a host of many nieces and nephews, and other extended relatives and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at 3:30 PM. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Knollsbrook Condominium Complex Clubhouse, 70 Erin Road, Stoughton, MA; immediately following the Memorial service.
