William S. Meadows, Jr.

William S. Meadows, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at the Seasons Hospice in Milton, after a long period of declining health. Born in Long Beach, CA, he was raised in Hawaii and Rhode Island and his family later settled in Newton.  He was a graduate of Newton Schools. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Boston University.  As a young man, he was the first manager of the Brookline Public Pool. He met Geraldine I. Hampe on a blind date, they married in 1958, and together they enjoyed over 64 years of marriage and raised three beloved sons.  They moved to Stoughton in 1968.  Bill was a longtime Science teacher, first at the Park School in Brookline for over 10 years and later in the Walpole School system.  He taught at Old Post Road School and at the Bird Middle School in Walpole for many years, retiring in 1995.  He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Union.  One of Bill’s passions was the raising of Bonsai Trees and love to spend time caring and pruning his trees.  He was a history buff and loved to study the Civil War and also enjoyed his remote controlled gliders and kites.  He was a friend of Bill W. and loyally lived One Day at a Time.  In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family. 

In addition to his wife Geraldine I. (Hampe) Meadows, he is survived by his son Daniel E. Meadows and his wife Marcia of RI and Douglas Meadows and his wife Kathryn M. of Brockton and was predeceased by his son William F. Meadows.  He was the beloved Grampy of Sara M. Meadows, Daniel R. Meadows and Michael Riley.  He is also survived by his great granddaughter Zoeith Riley. 

Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St., (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 4-6 followed by Funeral Reflections at 6 PM.
