William A. Sampson

William A. "Bill or Skeeze" Sampson, 82, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2022 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was loved by his wife of 57 years, Martha (Carolan) Sampson. Son of the late Grace (Carr) and Walter Sampson, he was born and raised in Stoughton. Bill was a 4-letter athlete at Stoughton High School, graduating in 1958. He also attended Huntington Prep School in Boston and UMass Amherst. Bill managed Cedar Hill Golf Course until sold to the Town of Stoughton and then formed Sampson Construction where he still worked with his son. Skeeze passed on his athletic skills to his children and grandsons and never missed any of their events. He also coached several youth sports teams in Stoughton for many years. Bill loved his family, music, nature and summers at his home in Dennis.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children, Carolan M. Sampson of Dighton and William W. "Billy" Sampson and his wife Jenn of Cranston, RI as well as his grandsons, Will and Max Sampson. He was the brother of the late June Poskus, Alan Sampson and Michael Sampson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church, 560 Page St., Stoughton on Saturday, July 9 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be made to the Ilse Marks Food Pantry, PO Box 812, Stoughton, MA 02072 or the charity of your choice.
